Wild Flower Series

Wild Flower Series

Being absent from the Midwest for almost 30 years, the impact the summer wildflowers had on me was overwhelming. Watching the continuous changing profusion of wildflowers in the glacier areas of Washara County inspired this series of pots. Using the wheel-thrown pots as a canvas, I drew into the clay, incised, pushed from the inside to form a relief and applied texture to the surface of each pot. Stains and under-glazes were rubbed, painted or sprayed on the surface of each pot. The name of each wildflower is written on the bottom of each pot.
